In a press release published on Sept. 19, Saab says it “is exploring the potential for the recently announced Gripen Aggressor, to meet the needs of the United States Air Force (USAF) for Adversary Air (ADAIR) combat training.”
Based on the Gripen C, the Gripen Aggressor has a “distinctly different appearance and set of capabilities” compared to the legacy platforms or current fighter platforms in use by the U.S. Air Force.
