KAI VP commits suicide amidst corruption probe

The probe into irregularities at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has claimed the life of a vice president at the aerospace firm.

Kim In-sik, an aide to CEO Ha Sung-yong, took his life on Sept. 21 at his home in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province.

In a three-page suicide note, Kim said he had done his best, “but it’s so unfortunate that things didn’t work out.”

Kim was a Brigadier General in the Air Force prior to joining KAI. He was in charge with overseas sales including the purchase of T-50IQ by Iraq. Prosecutors are now scrutinizing that deal.
