Taiwan has completed research on ship-launched TC-2, deploy on its stealth frigates

Taiwan news outlets are reporting that development of the indigenous ship-launched surface-to-air variant of the Sky Sword II missile has been completed and the deploy on the Kang Ding class stealth frigates from 2020.

Currently, the Kang Ding-class of ships are only armed with the old MIM-72 Chaparral missiles for air defense. The Sky Sword II will boost the ship’s ability to fend off attacks from the current 6kn to 60km.

The National Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) had struggled to develop a vertical-launch version of the missile and only succeed recently.
