The Royal Navy has deployed its Sea King helicopter to Europe for the last time with one Sea King Mk7 “eyes in the sky” traveling to Leeuwarden airbase, Netherlands recently.
Participating in Exercise Skinners’ Gold 4, the early warning helicopter from 849 Naval Air Squadron directed Dutch F-16s over the North Sea and northern Holland for mock intercepts of enemy aircraft.
The rotorcraft is being phased out in September, to be replaced by the Crowsnest.
