Japan is evaluating whether the Northrop Grumman MQ-8C and fixed-wing Insitsu RQ-21 can operate from the Izumo-class helicopter destroyers, Sankei reported on Mar. 2.
The study is being conducted by Japan Marine United (JMU), a Japanese ship building marine engineering and service company headquartered in Tokyo. The study, which includes the F-35B, started in April last year and the results are not out yet.
