The U.S. Air Force is testing a Replacement Head-Up Display (RHUD) for the C-17 and testing of the more capable display is wrapping up at Edwards Air Force Base.

Over a period of three-weeks, the 418th Flight Test Squadron’s C-17 Integrated Test Team teamed up with pilots from Air Mobility Command Test and Evaluation Squadron Detachment 3 and operational pilots from Travis Air Force Base to collect test data from the ground and in the air.
The current HUD on the C-17 needs replacement due to obsolescence and the new display from Elbit Systems of America has a larger field of view coupled with sharper image.
