The Philippine government has admitted that it does not have the ability to verify reports that China has deployed missiles in the Spratly Archipelago and had to rely on third-party resources for information.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque says he was briefed by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr that the country is waiting for the delivery of missile detection technology in order to verify the claims at first hand.
“We’re awaiting (delivery) so that we can have finally our own capacity to verify for ourselves,” he was quoted as saying.
