India moves one step closer in acquiring 200 Kamov Ka-226T light helicopters with the recent issue of a Request for Proposal (RFP) by the Ministry of Defence to Russian Helicopters.

News reports say the RFP outlines New Delhi’s intention to buy 135 helicopters for the army and 65 for the flying branch. Forty of those for the army will be manufactured in Russia while the rest of the 95 are to be assembled in India.
