The Armies of Japan and United States are participating in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise this month. Both will take the opportunity to launch surface-to-ship missiles during the biennial exercise.

The press release from the U.S. Navy did not identify the type of missile to be fired by Japan. The U.S. Army will attempt to fire a Naval Strike Missile (NSM) from a launcher on the back of a Palletized Load System (PLS).
