France intends to replace the MICA air-to-air missile with a new MICA NG missile for its Rafale fighter. This was announced by Minister of the Armed Force, Florence Parly, last month.

The new missile will still employ the same airframe but the internals will be upgraded. The weapon will still come with two variants – active radar homing and infra-red homing.
