Canada’s auditor general Michael Ferguson has warned that the country does not have enough pilots and technicians required to operate the CF-18 fleet.
Ferguson had first raise the issue back in 2016 when the Trudeau government wanted to buy the Boeing Super Hornet. Two years later, he is saying that despite buying more second-hand classic Hornets from Australia.
The report also warned that those Hornets will be obsolete soon without necessary upgrades.
“Without combat upgrades, the CF-18 will be less effective against adversaries in domestic and international operations,” the report says.
