Trump may travel to Yokosuka to see Izumo-class helicopter destroyer

Officials in Tokyo and Washington are ironing out plans for U.S. President Donald Trump to visit Japan next month.

According to news report, one of the itinerary includes a visit to Yokosuka naval base to see the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s Izumo-class helicopter destroyer, which Japan plans to covert into a fixed-wing aircraft carrier.

There are two ships in the class. The lead ship JS Izumo is scheduled to visit Singapore for IMDEX Asia 2019 from May 14-16.
