The IR-seeker that MBDA is developing for the MICA NG air-to-air missile can be integrated into the Rafale’s onboard system to work as an additional sensor, Aviation Week reports.

Senior company officials told Tony Osborne that the new motor powering the weapon will boost its range by 30 percent while reducing time of flight. Having a double-pulse rocket motor allows the missile to switch on its second bust at anytime of the flight to deal with highly maneuvering targets.
