E-3 upgrades delayed as Boeing’s labs failed security audits

Two of Boeing’s laboratories in Oklahoma City failed to pass Defense Department security certifications from January to December of last year, Bloomberg reports.

It has serious repercussions for the E-3 AWACS upgrade program as these two laboratories were developing software for the project.

Delivery of parts needed for the upgrade are delayed as well.

The planes are not scheduled to be fully operational until May 2023. A six-months delay.
