Will Roper, assistant secretary of the U.S. Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, has explained why the service choose to terminate the Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW) program.

Roper says the choice to go ahead solely with the AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) was because the missile could be carried by the F-15. He added that the B-52 can carry twice as many of the AGM-183A compared to the HCSW.
