Two U.S. Air Force C-17s tested an updated dynamic re-tasking capability (DRC) system during a weapons instructor course joint force exercise over the Nevada Test and Training Range last week.

Both sets of systems had faster satellite connection speeds which in turns allowed the pilots to have more information and situational awareness than the other aircraft participating in the exercise.
Without those DRC systems, C-17 pilots have to mark threats on their map or input the information into the aircraft’s mission computer based on verbal description received via radio calls.
