U.S. Air Force Special Tactics operators traveled 700 miles to secure airfield for FARP

The U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command executed a 2-week exercise codenamed Commando Crucible from Jun. 18 to Jul. 3. The object of the exercise is for Special Tactics teams to secure an airfield located in a simulate host nation and set up a Forward Air Refueling Point.

Using Hurlburt Field, Florida as their base, the teams traveled 700 miles to Kinston, North Carolina to secure the airfield. F-15s and F-22s from Air Combat Command were then able to fly in for refueling.

Airmen from the 53rd Air Traffic Control Squadron assigned to Robins Air Force Base, Georgia played the role of a simulated host nation force in this exercise.
