421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron is the first USAF F-35A unit to go on alert status

The 421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron has become the first F-35A unit in the U.S. Air Force to go on alert status this month.

The historic milestone was reached during the deployment to U.S. Central Command.

Based at Al Dhafra Air Base, the squadron carried out alert status exercises to provide the necessary data points to mission planners with the U.S. Air Force Central Command Air Operations Center.

The 421st Fighter Squadron and the 466th Fighter Squadron left Hill Air Force Base on May 20 to deploy to the Middle East.
