Japan is now planning to establish a electronic warfare (EW) unit in Okinawa after the one at Camp Kengun in Kumamoto has been set up next year.
It is reported that China has been collecting signals intelligence (SIGINT) on Japanese aircraft and ships in the Senkaku islands recently.
The unit will be responsible for jamming enemy signals to protect Self-Defense Force communication systems and equipment.
