MD Helicopters was awarded a $6.1 million contract to retrofit 18 legacy Afghan Air Force MD 530F helicopters with ballistic-tolerant crashworthy fuel systems (CWFS).

The 59-gallon tank is compliant to MIL-DTL-27422. The retrofit will be carried out in Afghanistan.
The press release also reveals that training for the Lebanese Air Force has started using two MD 530F helicopters.
