The Holloman High Speed Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico is being prepared for a series of hypersonic testing program that will commence next year and keep the track busy for a decade.

The 846th Test Squadron at Holloman will assist in the testing of the Hypersonic Test and Evaluation Investment Portfolio (HyTIP), Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW).
But before those tests could be carried out, new high-speed braking methods and workforce training must be developed and demonstrated.
The track’s “rainfield,” a sprinkler head system designed to simulate natural rain, has also been upgraded. The rainfield will help determine whether a hypersonic missile under testing will survive being launched through a rain cloud.
