A 5G communications network is being set up at Chitose Air Base, Japan for a period of two years to conduct experiments on improving the base’s security.

The network will be used to control unmanned air and ground vehicles during testing.
Trials will also be carried out to gauge the feasibility of automating the process of refueling.
