USAF airmen are playing a new board game that focuses on a hypothetical situation in the Western Pacific

A C-130 navigator studying at the Marine Corps War College has invented a new board game that allows mid-level decision-makers to better understand Agile Combat Employment planning concepts.

Airmen from various units within the 621st Contingency Response Wing play a prototype military strategy game March 25, 2021, at Travis Air Force Base, California. The game, called “Kingfish ACE” focuses on a hypothetical situation in the Western Pacific and is a strategy game similar to “Risk” and “Dungeons & Dragons.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Chad Kotce)

Lt. Col. Troy Pierce called his game “Kingfish ACE” and contains elements of popular role-playing games like “Risk” and “Dungeons & Dragons.” Pierce is developing the game as his final project at the college.
