The exercise was supposed to take place at Komatsu base with JASDF F-15s in June last year but postponed due to the pandemic. It was rescheduled to July this year and India’s Su-30MKIs were supposed to train with F-2s Hyakuri. That event was canceled due to the spread of the Delta variant.
Sankei says the training will expose Japan to the capabilities of the Su-30, which is also operated by China. The JASDF can observe the flight characteristics of the aircraft as well as maintenance requirements.
