Exosonic is building a supersonic drone for the U.S. Air Force under a Direct to Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.

The drone will act “as a near-peer adversary fighter to challenge fighter pilots in live flight training”, the company said in its press release.
It added that the drone can carry “various payloads and sensors.”
The company intends to fund future supersonic product developments, such as an airliner using proceeds from the sale of the UAVs.
