Germany’s Bild am Sonntag newspaper has reported that Germany will be buying 60 CH-47F helicopters for $5.4 billion.

Boeing beat Sikorsky to the contract due to pricing, according to the report. Germany will only be able to acquire 40 CH-53Ks for the same budget.
Another advantage for Boeing is that the helicopter is being used by members of NATO.
Bild am Sonntag added that Boeing will develop aerial refueling capability for Germany’s Chinooks.
