An F-80 warbird that was on display at Camp Dodge, Iowa was recently flown to Sioux City using a CH-47 for repainting.
The Iowa Air National Guard’s 174th Fighter Squadron had flown the F-80C during the early 1950s.
The crew of the CH-47 from B/171 Aviation Regiment says sling loading the F-80 allowed them to practice aircraft recovery methods at a safe pace.
