Australia cleared to buy AARGM-ER missiles

The Biden administration has approved a possible sale of Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missiles-Extended Range (AARGM-ERs) to the Government of Australia. The proposed sale includes up to 63 AARGM-ERs, 20 AARGM-ER Captive Air Training Missiles, and related equipment for an estimated cost of $506 million. This sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States, as Australia is one of the United States’ most important allies in the Western Pacific.

The prime contractor for this sale will be the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles and Defense. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

The implementation of this proposed sale will require U.S. Government personnel and contractor representatives to visit Australia on a temporary basis in conjunction with program technical oversight and support requirements, including program and technical reviews.
