A Philippine Air Force (PAF) SF-260FH basic trainer aircraft, #033, encountered a problem after take off from runaway 21 of Fernando Air Base in Lipa, Batangas on Apr. 24. The aircraft subsequently crashed.
According to Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo, the spokesperson for the Philippine Air Force (PAF), the two pilots are safe and receiving treatment. Emergency responders arrived promptly and successfully extricated the pilots. After undergoing mandatory medical checks, both pilots were declared safe and are currently receiving treatment.
The aircraft is currently being recovered and assessed, and an extensive investigation into the incident has been launched to determine its cause.
Castillo stated that there were no casualties or damage reported on the ground. Despite the low altitude, the pilots were able to maneuver the aircraft to an open area within the air base’s perimeter, causing no harm or damage to nearby communities.
