France is deploying a large contingent of warplanes, approximately 20, to the Indo-Pacific under the PEGASE 2023 mission.
Using Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates to make a technincal stopover. The French contingent will split into two components with each one going to Malaysia and Singapore. After departing France on Jun. 25, they are expected to leave the two South East Asia nations on Jun. 28.
Next stops are Guam and Palau whereby the French airmen are to participate in large-scale exercises together with their American counterparts from Jul. 2 to 21.
The A400M and MRTT transport aircraft will be deployed to New Caledonia and French Polynesia (FAPF) to carry out various missions during this period as well.
Starting from Jul. 24, mission will shift to South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia. We were told that three Rafale fighters are expected to arrive in Japan. Each stopover will involve training with the local partner air forces.
The French team will then return home via Qatar and Djibouti.
