The F-22 Raptor Combined Test Force has now transformed into the Air Dominance Combined Test Force and has been assigned the crucial responsibility of conducting flight tests for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) Family of Systems, the U.S. Air Force says in a press release.

While maintaining the F-22’s lethal capabilities against immediate threats, the Air Dominance CTF will focus on testing enhancements for the F-22 and executing integrated flight test campaigns for the NGAD Family of Systems. The 411th Flight Test Squadron will play a key part in both roles. The squadron was born out of the Advanced Tactical Fighter program flyoff competition between the YF-22 and YF-23.
The U.S. Air Force recently released a classified solicitation to industry for an engineering and manufacturing development contract for the NGAD Platform, with the intent to award the contract in 2024. This solicitation release marks the formal initiation of the source selection process, outlining the AF’s requirements for NGAD as the future replacement for the F-22 Raptor.
