Qatari and U.S. military units joined forces in a historic airborne insertion exercise on Aug. 17, 2023, in Doha, Qatar.
This groundbreaking operation saw the 102nd Rescue Squadron of the U.S. Air Force utilizing a C-130 aircraft to provide airlift support for 19 paratroopers hailing from the 165th Quartermaster BADC-A Det 1. The mission marked the inaugural static-line airborne operation for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (1st TSC) within the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility.
Simultaneously, 25 paratroopers from the Qatar Joint Special Forces (QJSF) took part in this exercise. They boarded a Qatar Emiri Air Force C-17 aircraft and executed their own airborne operation, culminating in a rendezvous with their U.S. Army coalition counterparts on the designated drop zone.
This collaborative operation serves as a testament to the strengthened partnerships between the U.S. and Qatar, showcasing their collective defense capabilities.
