These initial tests focused on evaluating the system’s performance during the final descent phase (from approximately 5,000 ft) and involved three separate drops from a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter. The tests assessed the impact tolerance of the payload (terminal drop with no parachute), parachute deployment effectiveness, and separation of the heat shield component.
