Held biennially, Exercise Pitch Black is renowned for its focus on large-scale, multinational air combat scenarios. This year’s iteration, designated as Exercise Pitch Black 24 (PB24), promises to be the most extensive yet.
PB24 is anticipated to involve a staggering 21 international participants, contributing over 140 aircraft and approximately 4,435 personnel. This signifies a substantial increase in participation compared to previous exercises.
Several nations will be making their debut at Pitch Black 24. Spain will be deploying its advanced Eurofighter combat jets, while the Philippines will be sending its FA-50PH Golden Eagle fighters. Additionally, the Papua New Guinea Defence Force will be participating with its PAC-750 aircraft. The inclusion of these newcomers, alongside established participants, promises to make Exercise Pitch Black 24 a truly dynamic and multinational showcase of airpower.
