The U.S. Air Force Central Command (AFCENT) and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) recently concluded a bilateral exercise, Falcon Talon 2024, held at Mushaf Air Force Base in Pakistan from Jun. 1st to 11th. The exercise focused on enhancing interoperability and strengthening ties between the two air forces through a combination of flying missions and ground-based training scenarios.
F-16 Fighting Falcons from the Aviano Air Base’s 510th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron participated in the exercise. These aircraft likely conducted live-fly missions alongside the PAF’s primary combat aircraft, the JF-17 Thunder, analysis of the released imagery suggests. The exercises reportedly included practicing close air support maneuvers and infiltration/exfiltration techniques.
Falcon Talon 2024 extended its reach beyond the skies. Airmen from both sides participated in ground-based training exchanges, sharing best practices in firefighting, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), medical response, and joint terminal attack control (JTAC) procedures. U.S. Air Force firefighters collaborated with their Pakistani counterparts, while EOD teams conducted joint training on identifying and disabling improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Security forces practiced securing the exercise area and personnel, while medical teams honed their response capabilities through simulated aircraft crash scenarios and a mass casualty event.
