Spain launched Exercise Eagle Eye 25-03 on Sept. 15, deploying six F-18 fighters, PATRIOT missile systems, and the frigate “Cristóbal Colón” in a four-day integrated air defense demonstration spanning the Canary Islands and Atlantic Ocean. The exercise tests rapid-response capabilities with 15-minute alert protocols while coordinating assets from all three military services under a unified command structure.

The operation integrates approximately 60 Air Force personnel with F-18 Hornets from Wing 12, ground-based HAWK and PATRIOT missile batteries from Anti-Aircraft Defense Unit III-73, and naval surveillance capabilities from the Álvaro de Bazán-class frigate F-105 “Cristóbal Colón.” Quick Reaction Alert missions maintain continuous 15-minute response times from threat detection to airborne intercept, while layered missile defense systems provide comprehensive coverage around strategic installations.
Led by the Air Operations Command under Operations Command (MOPS) control, Eagle Eye 25-03 represents the third iteration in 2025 and operates concurrently with “Sinergia 25,” a broader multi-theater exercise extending through Sept. 21.
