Japan is introducing a new AAM-4B air-to-air missile for the MHI F-2 fighter. The missile is unique as its the first of its kind to have an AESA seeker.
To take advantage of the new missile, the JASDF is upgrading the F-2’s J/APG-1 radar to a more powerful J/APG-2.
