A Turkish F-4 fighter was shot down by Syria on Friday and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Syrian authorities have apologized.
The jet went down in the Mediterranean Sea and both pilots have been rescued. It took off from Erhac air base round 10 a.m. and contact with the crew was lost at around noon.
