First flight of F-16V at Edwards AFB; RoCAF jet

The F-16V has flown for the first time at Edwards Air Force Base on Oct. 16, Lockheed Martin announced. The major difference in the variant is the inclusion of a APG-83 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR).

In order to take advantage of the new radar, the cockpit is modified with a new Center Pedestal Display, a modernized mission computer and a high-capacity Ethernet data bus.

The aircraft, tail number 93-0702, belongs to the Republic of China Air Force. Taiwan is the first nation to sign up for the F-16V program.
