V-22 testing rolling take-offs, landings on carrier deck

To prepare for the arrival of the HV-22, NAVAIR had an Osprey perform roll-on landings and takeoffs from the angled deck of an aircraft carrier last month.

This is to verify if the V-22 can operate with a higher gross weight. The current maximum rolling takeoff weight is 57,000 lb, testers were able to operate at 60,500 lb. MV-22s operating from amphibious assault ships will be able to benefit from the envelop expansion as well.
