A German P-3C and its crew has flown from Nordholz to Djibouti to join Operation Atalanta. Operation Atalanta is a current counter-piracy military operation at sea off the Horn of Africa and in the Western Indian Ocean.

The arrival of the maritime patrol aircraft on Mar. 11 brings relief for the Spanish P-3 Detachment. Both detachments are now able to split the workload to provide almost daily surveillance capability.
