Speaking at an event hosted by the Air Force Association on May 26, Welsh said he don’t think “it’s a wild idea.” And he added that buying an improved F-22 might be preferable and more affordable than developing a new six-generation fighter jet.
He also disclosed that his people are now working with Lockheed Martin to study the feasibility and costs of resurrecting the line.
