In a bid to save taxpayer’s money, the U.S. Navy has given Huntington Ingalls Industries – Newport News a Request for Proposal (RFP) to buy aircraft carriers CVN 80 and CVN 81 together at one go.

The sailing branch said it did that in the 1980s for the Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and achieved significant savings. It hopes to repeat it again.
