The chief designer at the hypersonic systems institute in St Petersburg has been arrested by the FSB on suspicion of treason.

Alexander Kuranov, an expert on plasma physics at the Hypersonic System Research Institute (HSRI), is working on the Ayaks hypersonic program.
Russia’s state media reported that Kuranov had been accused of passing hypersonic technology information to a foreigner.
