The U.S. Air Force will use the General Electric F110-129 turbofan engine to power all 136 F-15EX fighters that it plans to procure.

The service awarded the contract on Oct. 29 for 29 engines with options for seven additional purchases.
The contract is worth nearly $1.6 billion to General Electric.
