The flying activity throughout the exercise will be held over western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and regional NSW. It will utilize airspace and airfields that are commonly used by Royal Australian Air Force aircraft, and it will involve night-time flying activity and flying at a low level. However, there is no planned weekend flying activity for the exercise.
The Australian Defence Force is playing a vital role in supporting Exercise Wombat 23 by providing airbase operations and air traffic control services, aerial delivery equipment and drop zone support, and engagement with Republic of Singapore Air Force personnel. This support ensures that the exercise runs smoothly and that both the Republic of Singapore Air Force and the Australian Defence Force can achieve their objectives.
Exercise Wombat 23 provides an opportunity to further build close working relationships between Singapore and Australia. The Republic of Singapore Air Force has provided air mobility support to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations, including to Australia during floods and bushfires, as well as to the wider Indo-Pacific region. By supporting Exercise Wombat 23, the Australian Defence Force is contributing to Singapore’s security and ensuring a safe and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
