Valiant Shield Reunites 3 AWACS Squadrons After 41 Years

In 1969, Ottus Air Force Base, Mass., saw the closing of the 551st Airborne Early Warning and Control Wing, home to the E-3 Sentry. For the first time in 41 years, three squadrons, which were components of that wing, have re-united to take part in the U.S. Pacific Command exercise, Valiant Shield 2010.

Former Ethiopian pilot trainees stuck in Kyrgyzstan for two decades

Twenty years ago, a group of 80 Ethiopians were sent to Kyrgyzstan by their Marxist government to be trained as pilots. They were stuck there when both the Soviet Union and their government collapsed. Now only nine of them still remain in the small town of Tokmok.
