Pentagon’s plan to upgrade Afghan air base near Iran may rile the country
The Pentagon has request for $131 million to upgrade the Shindand Air Base in Afghanistan. The base is just 20km from the border with Iran and move is likely to upset the country.
USAF official says Washington evaluating Taiwan’s F-16 request
Bruce Lemkin, deputy under secretary of the U.S. Air Force for international affairs, told the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission that the Obama administration is evaluating whether to upgrade Taiwan’s existing F-16 A/B fighters or make the F-16C/D available to the island.
