VAQ-131 completes expeditionary deployment in Japan, replaced by VAQ-135

VAQ-131 has completed its first expeditionary deployment at NAF Misawa, Japan on Nov. 6 and was reliefed by VAQ-135.

MISAWA, Japan (Aug. 25, 2020) – EA-18G Growlers assigned to the “Lancers” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 131 and P-8A Poseidons assigned to the “Screaming Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 1 and “The Tridents” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 26 go through preflight preparation on the Naval Air Facility (NAF) Misawa flight line. Two brothers are learning to fly the F-15C in the same B-Course

Two brothers are now at the 173rd Fighter Wing where they will learn to fly the F-15C. According to instructors, this is the first time such a coincidence had happened.

U.S. Air Force Capt. Jasper (left) and 1st Lt. David Arneberg are brothers who for the first time in 173rd Fighter Wing history are navigating the F-15C B-Course together, Nov. 12, 2020 at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Although both completed Undergraduate Pilot Training and Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals in separate locations, their paths converged when both tracked to F-15C aircraft at the sole schoolhouse for the Eagle in the U.S. Air Force.
