Rheinmetall’s Skynex secures landmark deal in Italy

The Italian Army has committed to acquiring the Rheinmetall Skynex system. The initial contract, a €73 million deal, is for a single system, but it includes an option for three more, potentially ballooning the total to nearly €280 million. This order makes Italy the first NATO member to adopt Rheinmetall’s Skynex technology, notably including the 35mm Revolver Gun Mk3

Barak MX to safeguard Slovakian skies

Slovakia has signed its largest-ever defense agreement with Israel, acquiring the Barak MX air and missile defense system from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for $582 million. The deal was officially concluded in Tel Aviv by Ministry of Defense director general Major General (res.) Eyal Zamir.

In a major boost for Guam’s missile defense posture, the Aegis Guam System successfully intercepted a ballistic missile target off the coast of Andersen Air Force Base. This event, officially designated as Flight Experiment Mission-02 (FEM-02), marks the first time a ballistic missile defense operation has been executed from Guam, and involved collaboration between the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and several other U.S. Department of Defense partners.

South Korea mulls F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots amidst North Korean troop deployments to Russia

Team Pellonia’s airborne laser self-protection system proves impregnable in Swedish trials

The British Ministry of Defense says a new airborne laser self-protection system has demonstrated its effectiveness by successfully neutralising 100% of targets during a live firing trial conducted in Sweden. This breakthrough signifies a major advancement in safeguarding RAF aircraft against missile threats. The laser system is intended for integration into a range of Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft, including the Shadow R2 and the A400M transporter.
